World War I Exhibit open now!
Come see the new WWI exhibit at the NMMM. This interactive exhibit touches on four aspects of the war: air, sea, land, and finally the cost of the war. Climb aboard a WWI Submarine, walk through a WWI command bunker, and get up close to a WWI biplane. Come and visit our new exhibit while we remember and honor our New Mexico soldiers from the Great War.
Create a premier, state-of-the-art interactive military museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, honoring the legacy of those who have served before and inspiring future generations to come.
Our mission is to preserve the past, present, and future legacy of the men and women from New Mexico who have served in all branches of the U.S. Military; and educate visitors about our proud history, both in peace and wartime.
The New Mexico Military Museum is located on a seven-acre site at 1050 Old Pecos Trail in Santa Fe - originally the location of the New Mexico National Guard Headquarters. The complex, built in the early 1940's during the Works Progress Administration (WPS), served as the World War II induction center where thousands of New Mexicans, including many of the New Mexico National Guardsmen of the 200th Coast Artillery, were inducted into federal service.
The New Mexico Military Museum will be a state-of-the-art facility featuring interactive, engaging exhibits and galleries from the Native Americans, the Spanish settlers to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and our most current campaigns. It will include interactive exhibits showing the overseas wartime service of the last century to the current Global War on Terrorism - focusing on who we are as Americans and our continuing journey in a free society.
